Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) helps children develop the sensory and motor foundations needed for everyday life, learning, and play. Our sessions support self care skills such as dressing, feeding, and grooming, strengthen fine and visual motor abilities for tasks like writing and using utensils, and promote sensory regulation to help children stay calm, focused, and engaged.

Why yoga is amazing for OT goals:
Preschool yoga supports many skills occupational therapy works on, including:
- Self-regulation & coping skills: calming breaths, body breaks, and “yoga rest” help kids learn how to settle their bodies and emotions
- Body awareness (proprioception): poses and animal walks give “heavy work” input that can improve attention and regulation
- Balance & coordination: standing poses, stretching, and mindful movement build postural control and motor planning
- Core strength & stability: stronger core = better sitting posture, endurance, and control for play and early school tasks
- Following directions & transitions: practice listening, sequencing, and moving between activities smoothly
- Confidence & independence: kids learn “I can try!” in a safe, encouraging space

Perfect for kids who love to move, need help with focus and regulation, or benefit from structured movement in a playful setting.

Open Play

When therapy sessions aren’t in progress, our play space is open for drop-in play. Designed and operated by a pediatric occupational therapist, the space was created with neurodiversity in mind and supports children with a variety of sensory and motor needs.

Marnie is thrilled to be part of the team at Wonders Pediatric Therapy as an Occupational Therapy Aide. She recently graduated from UCLA with a degree in Anthropology and plans to pursue her Master’s in Occupational Therapy in the coming years.

Marnie was drawn to occupational therapy for its unique blend of science, creativity, and education. She is inspired by the therapists she works alongside at Wonders and finds deep meaning in witnessing how even small victories can make a powerful impact on a child’s confidence and independence.

With approximately six years of experience supporting children in both school-based and in-home settings, Marnie has developed a strong foundation in child engagement and support. She has also taught children’s yoga for the past three years, where she has seen firsthand how movement can foster confidence, calm, and self-awareness. Through these experiences, she has come to admire children’s creativity, curiosity, and resilience.

At Wonders Pediatric Therapy, Marnie strives to create a welcoming, safe, and playful environment where children feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow. She enjoys connecting with families and celebrating moments when children accomplish things they once thought were out of reach.

Outside of work, Marnie enjoys hiking in the redwoods of the East Bay Hills, exploring new matcha shops, and traveling with family and friends.

Anaya has nearly five years of experience working with children across diverse settings. Since high school, she has served as both a babysitter and a swim instructor, teaching children of all abilities—including many who are neurodivergent or have physical disabilities. Through these experiences, she has developed patience, creativity, and a deep understanding of the importance of meeting each child where they are.

Anaya’s philosophy centers on the belief that positive interactions and trust form the foundation of all meaningful progress. She strives to ensure that every child and family feels respected, valued, and heard, fostering an environment where true growth, confidence, and healing can take place.

Her work with neurodivergent children in the pool sparked her passion for occupational therapy. Seeing her students achieve milestones that once seemed out of reach and hearing parents express their gratitude for the progress made motivated her to pursue a career focused on helping children build essential life skills through play and creativity.

Outside of work, Anaya enjoys reading romance novels, building Legos, swimming, and spending time with her friends and family.
